SAED Week Kicks Off at NYSC Lagos, Focusing on Entrepreneurship and Income Generation
The Director of Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Department of the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters, Mrs Ngozi Nwatalari, said one of the objectives of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship programme of the NYSC is to create entrepreneurship and generate income.
She stated this in an addressed delivered today by the State Coordinator NYSC Lagos, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa, at the official opening of the 2023 Batch “C” Stream II Orientation Course SAED week.
Mrs Nwatalari who congratulated the corps members for their call-up to service, said the increasing pressure of unemployment on Nigerian graduates has necessitated the mandate of SAED to contribute meaningfully to the attainment of the SDGs goal of reduction of extreme poverty and hunger among others.
Reiterating on the objectives of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, she said SAED was established to cultivate the culture of entrepreneurship and income generation practices; build capacity to see opportunities to create wealth from situations around, identify demand-driven business skills, gather information on funding on funding opportunities and to gather technical assistance in job search.
She urged them to enroll for any of the 11 skill sets, stating that they take the activities serious. On funding, she said the Bank of Industry is available to provide laon facilities, likewise the Access bank, and unity bank. As part of the SAED official opening programme, the corps members were introduced to the Entrepreneurship Development Programme(EDP) which expatiates on business establishment, funding, maximization of profits etc. Also included in the programme is the introduction of SAED partners who serve as corps-trainers, displaying their finished products.
