The Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) said it will register all 2023 batch “C” Stream I Orientation course corps members deployed to Lagos State, to observe their one year mandatory service.

This was contained in a statement made by a Director of the Agency, Mr. Adekunle Salvador during sensitization about the Agency at the NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja.

Mr. Salvador highlighting the importance and reason for LASRRA registration, said the data collected by Lagos State Resident Registration Agency (LASRRA) on the people living in the State, provides government with credible information on the characteristics of the citizenry of the State, which enables more efficient and effective planning and formulation of policies to meet the needs of the people.

He added that upon registration, a Resident is given a number which is a unique number for identification. Mr. Salvador said the registration, though through a process, qualifies for the issuance of LASRRA Card, an automated card, also known as the Resident card which contains identification details that allows the card owner easier access to governmental and non-governmental services.

Reacting to questions from corps members, the Director said the Resident card can do what the Cowry card does. He said the Resident card can be used to access transport serves, take loans etc.

Speaking on the proof needed for registration, he said National ID, Drivers’ license and Electricity bill can be used as proof of residency for registration. He added that the Agency has decided to register all the corps members because there is no other proof than their deployment to serve in the State. He urged the corps members to make themselves available for registration as officials of the Agency will be on ground in the camp to register them.
