2025 Kwame Karikari Fact-checking Application Now Open

Applications are now open for the 2025 Kwame Karikari Fact-checking and Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) Fellowship, presented by DUBAWA and the Digital Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Information Disorder Analysis Centre (DAIDAC).
“This is not just another fellowship. It is a chance to be at the forefront of the fight against information disorder in West Africa,” the organizers said in a statement.
The three-month intensive program is designed to equip journalists with cutting-edge fact-checking skills, hands-on practice with open-source intelligence tools, and mentorship, empowering them to become beacons of truth in their communities.
According to the organizers, the fellowship will provide hands-on training with expert guidance and mentorship from the DUBAWA and DAIDAC teams. Fellows will also have the opportunity to publish their reports on media and DUBAWA platforms, making a real-world impact in the fight against misinformation.
“The fellowship will support the establishment of a fact-checking unit in your newsroom, connect you with a network of like-minded journalists passionate about truth and accuracy, and amplify your voice through promoting fact-checking across social media, radio, and TV,” the statement added.
The fellowship is open to full-time journalists from Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, or The Gambia, as well as fact-checkers looking to enhance their skills.
“We are looking for exceptional writers with a passion for truth, individuals eager to learn and grow in the field of fact-checking, and journalists committed to dedicating time to the fellowship and its activities,” the organizers said.
Female journalists and journalists with disabilities (PWDs) are strongly encouraged to apply, as well as journalists with expertise in climate and conflict reporting.
The application deadline is [Insert Date]. Interested applicants can submit their applications online through the DUBAWA website.
Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your skills, make a real impact in the fight against misinformation, and advance your career.
