Wike Pledges Support for Sports, Plans to Honour FCT Athletes

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced plans to honour athletes who represented the FCT in various sporting events recently.
According to a statement by the FCT sports department in Abuja on Tuesday, a reception is scheduled for Thursday to celebrate athletes who participated in the 2022 National Sports Festival and the 7th and 8th National Youth Games.
In the statement, the minister stamped his leadership’s commitment to fostering sports development in the Federal Capital Territory. He claimed creating an enabling environment for athletes conforms with President Tinubu’s goal of youth empowerment.
“This initiative reflects our dedication to discovering and nurturing the potential of young people,” Wike said, as he explained sports as a tool for growth and youth empowerment.
