“How Ebonyi Officials Framed Me as an Internet Fraudster – Nwoba Chika Nwoba

Nwoba Chika Nwoba, a former Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, has made startling revelations regarding a coordinated effort by top state actors to discredit and possibly endanger his life and reputation on both local and international fronts.
In a statement made public earlier today, Nwoba alleged that around the end of April 2025, a group of individuals including a serving commissioner, a female police officer, and the wife of the Ebonyi State governor collaborated to report him to a United States-based agency, accusing him of internet fraud. According to him, the agency had previously maintained contact with him professionally.
“Their agent, who is based in Awka and works in conjunction with the police, told the agency that I was engaged in internet fraud, citing a court document from Abakaliki as evidence,” Nwoba explained. “The agency promptly disengaged me after profiling.”
However, upon reviewing the said court document and making clarifications, the agency reportedly cleared Nwoba of any fraudulent activity within 48 hours. “I urged them to read the court document line by line. It had nothing to do with internet fraud, but was a politically motivated move to gag my voice,” he said.
He described the development as a major blow to his political adversaries, claiming it marked the peak of a sustained campaign to tarnish his name and neutralize his influence.
In a separate incident, Nwoba alleged that another plot to lure and apprehend him in Pretoria, South Africa, was thwarted after he detected and dodged the trap. “They set up a bait in South Africa to get me in Pretoria. I was smart enough to detect it and readjusted immediately,” he stated.
According to him, significant financial resources were funneled into tracking and targeting him, all in a bid to earn praise from the governor and gain clout on social media. “This was just an ego battle for them. One jobsman alone was paid ₦10 million and stayed in Awka hotels for a month trying to track me. Yet, it was all in vain.”
Despite the reported persecution, Nwoba claimed he never considered retaliation, stating he had multiple opportunities to harm his trackers but refused to resort to violence. “I have a pact with nature never to shed human blood unless in self-defense,” he said.
He also hinted at the use of personal intelligence and surveillance in defending himself throughout the ordeal. “I deployed all my espionage arsenals and got results,” he said, adding that while he had incurred considerable expenses since January, his adversaries might have spent nearly ₦100 million.
The political activist noted that the struggle was not motivated by personal interest but by his insistence on public accountability. “For daring to seek transparency in the use of public funds, I was labelled an internet fraudster,” he lamented. “But whatever a man does to another is only a loan — time and chance will do justice.”
