Udeze advocates executive-legislative collaboration
Somtochukwu Udeze, the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, says constructive engagement between the legislative and executive branches will foster peace and unity in the state.
Mr Udeze, who represents Ogbaru Constituency 2, made the assertion at a town hall meeting with constituents in Atani, Ogbaru Local Government Area.
The Speaker highlighted the Assembly’s commitment to the constitution and the electorate, and underscored the unity of the lawmakers beyond party lines in the interest of upholding the doctrine of separation of powers for effective governance.
Recounting his achievements, Mr Udeze expressed his aspiration for the completion of the Osamala-Ogwuikpele road, citing Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment.
He also facilitated the inclusion of Ogbaru’s Primary Health Centres and the Comprehensive Healthcare Centre in Atani into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, ensuring residents access to free healthcare.
He added that plans were underway to reconnect electricity supply to Ogwuikpele through Ossomala, Obeagwa, and Akili Ogidi, following the vandalism of power infrastructure.
Community leaders, including Igwe Victor Awogu and Igwe Azuka Ngonadi, commended Mr Udeze’s transparency and representation, urging continued efforts towards peace and development in Ogbaru.
Bishop Prosper Afam Amah, the Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese of the Anglican Communion, urged the Speaker to make efforts to maximize the oil wells in the area which gave Anambra the status of Oil-producing state.
