Some Suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group have reportedly killed two policemen and stolen over 200 cows from Natsini village in the Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The attack, which occurred around 11 p.m. on Thursday, was carried out by over 50 armed men on motorcycles, according to reports.
According to report from daily trust obtained by Asiwaju media revealed that gathered sources at the village that policemen were manning a checkpoint along the Augie/Kangiwa road when the terrorists numbering over 50 on motorcycles attacked and killed two of them before rustling cows in the village.
Speaking Abubakar Augie, a resident of the village, said that the rustled cows belong to a prominent civil servant identified as Lawali Black in the area.
“The Lakurawa attackers were more than 50. After overpowering the policemen at the checkpoint, they went to the ranch and made away with the cows.” he said
Natsini village, located about five kilometers from Argungu town, remains tense as the attack has sparked heightened security concerns.
Confirming the incident, the local government chairman, Aliyu Gulma, stated that the council was holding a security meeting and that the state government had directed security forces to pursue the terrorists and recover the stolen livestock.
Efforts to reach the state police command’s public relations officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, for further comments were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
