Claim:

Employment Application Submission at Office Of the Head Of Civil Service Commission Of The Federation.

Full Text:

A Facebook user, Engr Usman posted on the Nigerian Immigration Service 20222023 on 14 July 2024, reads: “Employment Application Submission at Office of the Head of Civil Service Commission of the Federation. Send your CV to the email provided address: fgn.secretariat@gmail.com

Also, A fake email impersonating the civil service commission, demanding employees to pay the sum of 1,400 (one thousand, four hundred naira only) for job clearance. With the subject “Job Application Reviewal CSC at the Federal Government of Nigeria” was sent via different emails reads :

The email contents reads: “Dear Prospective employee, we have shortlisted you as one of the prospectus of the federal civil service commission, your CV is well received on the 17th Oct 2024. Your name and academic discipline has been recorded successfully for a job posting at federal government MDA. You are expected to make your clearance for the job with the sum amount of N1,400 (one thousand, four hundred naira only) with our federal human resources consultant for the job position with the account details: Muhammad Abubakar Sanni (8031151654) Moniepoint MFB.”

The Federal civil service commission is responsible for filling vacancies in government’s ministries for with qualified candidates. The civil service conducts merit based recruitment exercise, which includes advertising vacancies, screening candidates and conducting interviews.

Verification:

Asiwaju media discovered that In October 2024, The federal ministry of Information and culture disclosed the federal government agencies will not use public email addresses as a means of communication, advising that the online publications are fictitious and should be disregarded as they do not emanate from the commission.

The Civil Service Commission has issued disclaimers on social media and websites to warn the public about fake recruitment exercise.

According to the ministry of communication revealed through Cable.Ng, ordered MDAs to stop using Gmail, Yahoo mail for official verification, adding that any official communication will be communicated through gov.ng which clarifies national identity.

Africa Check observed that applying for a job with a federal agency is usually done via a portal, where you fill in a form and submit other documents. You don’t just send your curriculum vitae to an email address. The procedure is usually very strict.

Conclusion:

The Federal Civil Service are currently not recruiting, Government agencies exclusively use authorized, secure communication channels for official purposes such as gov.ng rather than public email services such as gmail and yahoo mail. The official email address of the commission is info@ohcsf.gov.ng.

Verdict: Misleading
