The Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq launched a free bus initiative to lessen financial burden on Kwara state University Students (Kwasu) and University of Ilorin. These initiatives allow students to easily convey back to their various campuses after the Christmas and New year break.

Zulum Renames Borno State University After Kashim Ibrahim

The Executive Governor of Borno State, Prof Babagana Umar Zulum has announced the renaming of Borno State University to Kashim Ibrahim University.

Making this known to the public, Professor Usman Tar, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, explained that the renaming is subject to legislative procedures and formal notifications to relevant regulatory bodies, including the National Universities Commission and JAMB.

University Students from University of Ilorin, Adekunle Ajasin University, Obafemi Awolowo, among others have shared their experience as fear and anxiety affect their mental health in the pursuit of their academic journey. Lectures distress, physical demands and academic pressures, financial burden are pressing challenges faced by University Students especially in Nigeria universities.

Hauwa Bello, a psychotherapist and chief executive officer of Mumtaz Mind and Wellness Studio in a report by University World News, urged universities to engage more professionals, such as counsellors, psychologists and social workers, in light of an acute shortage of psychiatrists in the country.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has condemned the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for appointing Eric Sékou Chelle as the Super Eagles new head coach

In a statement by Abdul-Yekinn Odunayo, Clerk of NANS Senate, the student body labeled the decision an “aberration.” They explained that Chelle’s tenure as Mali’s coach since 2022 showed no significant accomplishments as he failed to qualify for the World Cup or secure an African Cup of Nations title.

The Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates with part-time National Diploma(ND) background staged a protest On Monday at Lagos secretary, denouncing a proposed policy that would exclude them from participating in the National Youth Service corps (NYSC).
