Zamfara lawmakers walk commissioner out of Assembly

The Zamfara State Assembly members have sent out the state commissioner for budget and economic planning, Alhaji Abdulmalik Gajam out of the Assembly complex during the 2024 budget presentation by Governor Dauda Lawal.
The lawmakers said the decision follows the refusal of the commissioner to honour their previous invitations three times.
Prior to commencement of the presentation, A member Bashir Aliyu raise a motion drawing the attention of the House to the alleged misconduct of the Commissioner Abdulmalik Gajam.
He said the House was established and guided by laws that empowers the State Assembly to invite any person for interview, especially those holding positions in government but the commissioner refused to honor their invitations and gave no explanation for his actions.
Contributing, member representing Maradun One, Faruk Dosara called on the House to withdrew the confirmation of the commissioner, describing it is a gross disobedience to the state.
In his ruling, the Speaker of the House, Bilyaminu Moriki directed that the commissioner to leave the chamber.
