Wike inaugurates N7 billion Gaba-Tokulo road

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has inaugurated the 5-kilometre Gaba-Tokulo road in Bwari Area Council.

The project is part of the administration’s pledge to deliver one road in each of the six Area Councils, as directed by President Bola Tinubu in 2024.

“This Gaba-Tokulo road cost us not less than N7 billion. Across Bwari, road infrastructure alone has amounted to N62.2 billion, with additional investments in education bringing the total to nearly N100 billion,” Wike stated during the ceremony.

Education, security projects

Wike highlighted the government’s investments in education, citing renovations of Government Secondary Schools in Dutse, Bwari, Ushafa, Deidei, Kubwa, and Jibi, at a cost of N27 billion.

On security, the Minister announced the construction of two new police divisions in Igou and Ushafa, set for completion by May, to enhance safety in the area.

Responding to a request from Bwari Area Council Chairman John Gabaya, Wike committed to extending the Gaba-Tokulo road to Kawu, near the Kaduna State boundary, and constructing an alternative route from Bwari to Kubwa.

Community acknowledgment

Chairman Gabaya thanked the Minister for addressing longstanding infrastructure challenges, noting the dangers previously associated with the Gaba-Tokulo road.

He presented a token of appreciation on behalf of the Tokulo community.

FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, affirmed that these projects reflect President Tinubu’s commitment to connectivity and economic growth under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The road inauguration marks another step in delivering impactful projects across the FCT.
