VeryDarkMan’s claim of NGO website hack and ₦180m theft ‘false’

A community note has labeled VeryDarkMan’s claim that his NGO website was hacked, leading to the theft of ₦180 million out of ₦200 million in donations, as false.
The note clarified that even if the website were compromised, it would not result in any funds being stolen.
The clarification appeared as a brief statement attached to a post featuring a video of VeryDarkMan, where he alleged the hacking incident.
The popular online personality, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, had claimed that ₦180 million was stolen from the donations account after the supposed hack.
His statement sparked widespread reactions, with some public figures dismissing the allegations outright, while others speculated that the funds might have been used for other purposes.
While VeryDarkMan has yet to provide an update or evidence to support his claims, the community note on Twitter refuted the allegations.
It explained the impossibility of stealing funds from a website, even if hacked.
The statement reads:

“The website of VDM (Martins Vincent Otse) NGO mvoi4all.com does not store or process payments, so hacking it (if this claim is true) WILL NOT cause any money to go missing from the Zenith Bank account (1313679008) where donations are received.”
“THIS CLAIM IS FALSE.”
