Turji Raids Zamfara Mosque, Abducts Worshippers

Nigeria’s most wanted terrorist, Bello Turji, led an armed gang to attack a mosque in Shanawa community, Zamfara State, on Wednesday night, abducting several worshippers.

The attack happened during Isha prayer, leaving four people seriously injured. Reports indicate that the assailants later stormed Shinkafi town around 10 p.m., kidnapping more residents.

Dan Katsina, a northern security expert, shared details of the incident on X. He confirmed that an unspecified number of individuals were taken during the violent raid.

The Nigerian military is yet to issue an official statement on the attack. This comes 140 days after Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa vowed to capture Turji.

In September 2024, Gen. Musa assured Nigerians that Turji’s reign of terror would soon end. However, the terrorist continues to operate freely, defying military efforts.

Residents of Zamfara live in constant fear as bandits intensify attacks. Many communities remain vulnerable, with security forces struggling to contain the growing insecurity in the region.
