Salmwang Urges Pcms To Acquire Skill While In Camp, Issues Guidelines For Orientation Course

State Coordinator NYSC Lagos, Mrs Christiana Salmwang has called on the Prospective Corps Members of the 2025 Batch “A” Stream I Orientation Course to acquire a skill during the 3 weeks Orientation Course through the aegis of Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development.
She said this while briefing the Prospective Corps Members at the NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja.
Mrs Salmwang in her brief to them said skill acquisition is a key to prosperous future. She expatiated that the scheme is in collaboration with trainers to train them in their choice of skill in camp and outside the 3-week programme.
Setting the guidelines for the Orientation Course, the State Coordinator said the camp is a regimented community and as such its occupants must remain disciplined and must align with the rules of the camp. She said misbehaviours such as cultism,drug abuse improper dressing, unruly attitude and the negative use of the Social media are prohibited and if they occur, they won’t go without facing disciplinary measures emphasizing that the NYSC bye laws will apply when such are breached.
Speaking about the operations of camp, she hinted that the camp is a Community that functions properly through participation. She enjoined the Prospective Corps Members to volunteer in ensuring the camp runs smoothly. She cautioned against dirty habits and agitated for good hygiene practices such as disposal of waste in designated areas and good use of sanitary and toilet facilities.
Meanwhile, the State Coordinator has encouraged corps members not to hide their health status in order to continue to stay in camp. She explained that camp activities are rigorous which cannot accommodate feeble individuals. She advised that any corps member feeling unwell should report to the Camp Clinic for medical attention. She also warned against self-medication, stating that the NYSC will attend to their medical needs through the National Health Insurance Authority.
