Police Debunks Rumor About Injured Officer's Fitness for Service

The Nigeria Police Force has refuted rumors circulating on social media alleging that an officer with impaired vision is among the newly passed-out constables and unfit for service.

The Force clarified that the officer in question joined the police several years ago and sustained an eye injury during an operational accident two years ago.

According to a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the officer met all recruitment and medical fitness criteria at the time of his enlistment. His injury was a result of a gunshot sustained during a critical operation, reflecting his bravery and dedication to duty.

The Police emphasized that the officer’s current condition is not related to any lapses in the recruitment process. They also reaffirmed their commitment to rigorous recruitment standards, ensuring that only qualified candidates are enlisted.

The Force further highlighted its efforts in supporting the injured officer through his recovery and ensuring his well-being.

The Police urged the public to avoid spreading misinformation that could harm the reputation of its personnel or the integrity of the institution.

This clarification comes amidst the Force’s ongoing efforts to maintain transparency and uphold public trust in its operations and recruitment processes.
