NYSC Lagos, NSCDC Collaborate On War Against Drug Abuse

Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), has assuredd the State Coordinator NYSC Lagos, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa of the Corps’ collaboration in stemming drug abuse among the youths.

The Commandant Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, made this commitment when the State Coordinator, NYSC Lagos, Mrs Baderinwa paid a courtesy call on the Corps at the NSCDC Lagos Command in Ikeja On Thursday.

Mrs Baderinwa while appreciating the Corps for its long-standing commitment to the NYSC, stated that the NYSC scheme wants to go beyond preventing the use of drugs in its Orientation Courses, but wants to be involved in identifying drug addicts among its Corps Members, and help them to fight their addiction.

The State Coordinator requested for more collaboration with the Corps especially in this aspect so that proper attention can be placed on the youths passing through its custody.

While responding to the State Coordinator’s request, the Commandant noted that collaboration is important to combat some challenges.

He said the Corps will work harder to ensure the objectives of the NYSC are not eroded but achieved. He emphasized that tackling drug abuse is a collective responsibility that must be taken seriously.

Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa, has been working on collaborations with security agencies to combat drug abuse.

Today’s courtesy call came on the heels of the visit to the Department of State Security, yesterday.
