NYSC Lagos Coordinator Pays Courtesy Visit to Oba of Elegushi

The Lagos State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kusenla III, the Oba of Ikate-Elegushi.

During the visit, Mrs. Salmwang expressed sincere gratitude to the monarch for his steadfast support of NYSC corps members, particularly those serving in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area (Zone 3). She praised the Oba’s continued commitment to youth empowerment, commending his efforts that align seamlessly with the NYSC’s mandate of youth development and national integration.

Highlighting the Oba’s active role in youth-centered initiatives, Mrs. Salmwang specifically acknowledged his recent involvement in a sensitization program on drug abuse, to which corps members were graciously invited. She described the initiative as timely and crucial, given the growing concerns about substance abuse among Nigerian youth.

In a gesture of goodwill, the State Coordinator extended a formal invitation to Oba Elegushi to attend the upcoming Cultural Day celebration during the next NYSC orientation course.

In his remarks, Oba Elegushi welcomed the delegation warmly and commended the NYSC for its vital role in shaping Nigerian youths into global citizens. He encouraged corps members to embrace self-development, entrepreneurship, and community service rather than relying solely on white-collar employment.

The monarch further urged the youth to project a positive image of Nigeria, especially on social media platforms, and advised against spreading negativity about the nation. He also emphasized the critical role of parental guidance in addressing the menace of drug abuse among young people.
