NSCDC arrests Octogenarian over alleged defilement of 4-year-old

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command, has apprehended an 85-year-old man, Ibrahim Haruna, for allegedly defiling a 4-year-old girl in Kongo community, Keffi Local Government Area.

The incident, which occurred in the first week of January, came to light when the victim’s elder sister noticed the child walking with discomfort and bleeding.

Raising alarm, the sister inquired, and the young girl disclosed the alleged assault.

Addressing journalists, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Jerry Victor, stated that the suspect had lured the child into his room while others were away.

A medical report presented during the briefing confirmed the child had been defiled.

Victor assured the public that the case would be transferred to the Nasarawa State Ministry of Justice for further investigation and prosecution. However, Ibrahim Haruna denied the allegations, claiming he is being framed.

Reports revealed that the victim’s parents and the suspect are neighbors.–

Cultists Clash

In a separate operation, the NSCDC Nasarawa State Command has apprehended three suspected cultists for alleged harassment and destruction of property in Lafia’s Layin Yan Kaji and Super Cinema streets.

The NSCDC spokesperson, Jerry Victor, revealed that the suspects were arrested following reports of disturbances in the areas.

Items recovered from them include two locally made pistols, live cartridges, ammunition, mobile phones, pliers, and scissors.

This arrest follows a suspected cult clash in December 2024 that led to the destruction of six vehicles and the burning of one motorcycle during the festive season.

Victor reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to combating crime and protecting public and private infrastructure across the state.
