MDAN, SHMB's Chapter, Pays Courtesy Visit to Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Highlights Challenges of Reintegration After Residency

Earlier today, the Medical and Dental Association of Nigeria (MDAN), Oyo State Hospitals Management Board Chapter, paid a courtesy visit to the Oyo State Civil Service Commission. The visit was to appreciate the Commission and discuss key challenges faced by Medical and Dental Professionals in the State.

The delegation, led by the Chairman of the association, Dr. Mrs A. Odofin expressed concerns over the difficulties encountered by doctors in returning to their respective duty posts after completing their residency programs. Also, the Association used the opportunity to call on the Commission to facilitate a smoother transition process, ensuring that doctors can resume their duties without unnecessary delays.

In response, the Chairman of the Oyo State Civil Service Commission, ALH. Kamoru Abiodun Aderibigbe, acknowledged the concerns raised and assured the association of the commission’s commitment to addressing the issue.

He encouraged MDAN members to maintain consistent communication with their agency and emphasized the importance of submitting progress reports every six months during the period of their residency program. This, he noted, would help ensure proper documentation and a structured reintegration process after residency.

The meeting was a productive engagement, reinforcing the need for continuous dialogue between labour unions and government agencies to improve the efficiency of service delivery in Oyo State. MDAN thereafter thanked the members of the Commission and expressed optimism that their concerns would be addressed to pave way for a more effective healthcare workforce in the state.
