Makinde Promises Economic Relief for Oyo Residents in 2025
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has assured residents of better economic prospects in 2025, pledging to implement policies aimed at easing the financial burdens on the people of the state.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the governor expressed his administration’s commitment to increasing residents’ spending power and easing the effects of economic challenges experienced in the previous year.
Speaking during a New Year message aired on the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, the governor revealed plans to upgrade the Ibadan Airport at Alakia to international status, complete the first segment of the Ibadan Circular Road, and focus on raising public awareness about government initiatives.
Reflecting on the difficulties of 2024, including inflation and disasters such as the Bodija explosion and the Basorun school stampede, Makinde acknowledged the resilience of Oyo residents. He described 2024 as a year that tested the state’s resolve and he promised to reassess their strategies.
Makinde highlighted achievements such as attracting major investors like Africorp Consortium and Shell Nigeria Gas, completing the first phase of the state’s Independent Power Project, and commencing the construction of an agribusiness industrial hub in Eruwa, despite the challenges.
“2025 will be a turnaround year for Oyo State. We are committed to actions that will ease economic strains and create prosperity for our people.” He concluded.
