“Lagos Corps Members Receive Tuberculosis Awareness Training

Corps members of the 2023 Batch “C” Stream II Orientation Course have been sensitized on Tuberculosis at the ongoing Orientation Course in Iyana-Ipaja.

The sensitization was carried out in a bid to stem the contraction of the disease and to create awareness about early detection to allow for early commencement of treatment.

While speaking during the sensitization exercise, Dr. Lawason, an official from the collaboration of the Lagos State Ministry of Health and Institute of Virology, said some of the symptoms of Tuberculosis include coughing, sneezing and night sweat.

She also stated that according to the Global report, 2023, a whooping 7.3 million people are affected by Tuberculosis and Tuberculosis disease.

Dr. Lanwanson sensitized the corps members on the dangers of tuberculosis, urging them to carry out tests to ascertain the state of their health. She also beseeched them to become advocates of Tuberculosis sensitization in their various places of assignment in order to stem the disease.

She added that being advocates can enable them sensitize children and the elderly of their communities on the causes, danger and ways to avoid contracting Tuberculosis.

She urged the corps members to educate the residents of the communities of the free testing and vaccination for Tuberculosis that is on-going in the different government hospitals of Lagos State, through a joint effort between the Institute of Human Virology and the Lagos State Ministry of Health.
