Kwara Government Reaffirms Commitment to Workers’ Welfare and Transparency

The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to the wellbeing of workers and pensioners of the state by ensuring improved working conditions and financial stability.
This was made known during the fourth quarterly Inter-Ministerial Press Briefing in Ilorin. The briefing, held at the Ministry of Finance Conference Room, was led by Dr. Hauwa Nuru, Commissioner for Finance.
In the meeting, tye Commissioner for finance mentioned the government’s consistent efforts under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s leadership to prioritize prompt payment of salaries, pensions, and promotion of civil servants in the state.
“As part of its welfare initiatives, the government approved a three-month financial bonus, equivalent to monthly PAYE obligations, for all civil servants, including local government workers. This bonus, paid between October and December 2024, eased the impact of subsidy removal on fuel price,” she said.
Dr. Nuru also praised the adoption of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS), which enhanced the state’s financial processes, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
Land titling processes have also improved significantly, with digitized records and streamlined issuance of Certificates of Occupancy, thereby attracting investors.
Kwara State government’s commitment to accountability was recognized by the World Bank under the SABER program, where the state was given reimbursement for meeting rigorous standards in transparency.
“To improve productivity, the Ministry of Finance has renovated offices, provided modern furniture and ICT tools, and installed solar systems for uninterrupted power supply,” she went further.
“These accomplishments are a testament to Governor AbdulRazaq’s visionary leadership and commitment to transparency, accountability, and the welfare of all Kwarans,” she concluded.
