Kano Assembly passes social protection agency bill

The Kano State House of Assembly (KNHA) has passed the Kano State Social Protection Agency Bill, 2025, paving the way for the establishment of an agency dedicated to supporting vulnerable groups in the state.
The bill was passed during a plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore.
Speaking to journalists after the session, Majority Leader Alhaji Lawan Hussaini Dala explained that the agency, if assented to by the governor, will be headed by a Director-General with expertise in social services.
It will also have a board of trustees comprising representatives from various ministries and partner organizations.
Dala noted that the agency aims to reduce citizens’ vulnerability and improve their living conditions, adding that its establishment is expected to positively impact the lives of Kano State residents.
In a related development, Speaker Jibril Ismail Falgore congratulated Governor Abba Yusuf on his nomination for the Best Governor of the Year Award in Education and the African Governor of the Year 2025 award.
The House adjourned its sitting following a motion moved by Majority Leader Lawan Husaini.
