How to Apply for Federal Ministry of Education Technical and Vocational Education and Training ( FME TVET) – Step by Step Guide

The FME TVET Application Portal is still open for new applications, and here is how you can submit yours.
The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) announced applications for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program for young Nigerians to gain life-changing skills and become self-sufficient.
The FME TVET Initiative offers fully funded training with a certificate, ₦45,000 monthly stipends, start-up support, and the opportunity for industry-relevant technical and vocational skills.
The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative is a flagship program of the Federal Ministry of Education designed to equip young Nigerians with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
Through partnerships with certified training centers across the country, the initiative offers tuition-free training, monthly stipends, and start-up support for selected trades in high-demand sectors.

The TVET Initiative offers two flexible training options to suit your background and goals:
Short-Term Certificate (STC) Programme
Duration: 6 months
Ideal For: First-time trainees, school leavers, or individuals with no formal education background.
Entry Requirements:
Valid National Identification Number (NIN)
Valid Bank Verification Number (BVN)
No prior educational qualification required. This track is designed for individuals ready to learn a practical skill and enter the workforce quickly.
Vocational Education & Innovation (VEI) Programme
Duration: 1 year
Ideal For: Individuals with some education or informal training experience, looking to deepen and formalize their skills.
Entry Requirements (any of the following):
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – proof of skills acquired informally or through apprenticeship
OR
First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC)
OR
Any form of non-formal education certificate (e.g., training from NGOs, religious institutions, nomadic education or community programs)
Training Centers Available In:
- All 6 geopolitical zones
- Federal & State Technical Colleges
- State-owned accredited institutions
- Registered private vocational centers

- Creative Media (Digital Media Production)
- Motorcycle & Tricycle Repair
- Vulcanising & Tire Repair
- Auto-body Works (Panel Beating)
- Automobile Mechanic

Who can apply for the FME TVET Program?
The TVET Program is open to any Nigerian with or without an educational background. Job seekers, school leavers, and fresh graduates are all welcome to apply.What are the Documents Required for the FME TVET Application?
You will be required to provide the following details/documents;
- Personal Details
- Bank Verification Number (BVN)
- National Identity Number (NIN)
- Proof of previous education – this may be;
- proof of skills acquired informally or through apprenticeship
OR
- First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC)
OR
- Any form of non-formal education certificate (e.g., training from NGOs, religious institutions, nomadic education or community program

How To Submit Your FME TVET Application Portal: Step by Step
Now that you have understood why you should apply and benefit from this federal government initiative, it is time to begin your application.
FME TVET Portal Login Procedures
Step 1: The first step is to visit the tvet education gov ng website
On the website, more details about the FME TVET Initiative are provided, including answers to your likely questions.
Step 2: Once you have read the details and are ready to proceed, click APPLY
Step 3: This page is the NIN verification page. You will be required to input your NIN number and your date of birth (DOB).
Once you click proceed, you will then be asked to input your phone number and a valid email address. An SMS will be sent to your phone number with which your NIN was registered.
Next, you will be directed to a login page, meaning that your account with the TVET has been created.
Step 4: Choose your preferred Program – (STC or VEI).
There are two types of programs you can apply for on the TVET Application Portal;
- Short-Term Certificate (STC) Programme (6 Months)
- Vocational Education & Innovation (VEI) Programme (1 year)
Once you have thoughtfully selected your desired program, you are welcome to click Proceed.
