FCT Minister Issues 1,000 Certificates of Occupancy

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has issued 1,000 Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) to homeowners at River Park Estate, Abuja, in a bid to strengthen property rights and boost investor confidence in the real estate sector.

During a ceremony on Sunday, estate occupants received their certificates. The Managing Director of River Park Estate, Paul Odili, commended the minister, describing the move as a major milestone for property ownership.

Odili explained hat Wike’s decision to approve such a large number of certificates for a single estate showed his commitment to transparency, accountability, and a thriving real estate sector in Abuja.

He also expressed gratitude to the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) for facilitating the process. He acknowledged the Land, Urban and Regional Planning, Mapping and Survey, and Estate Departments’ effort as well.

Residents described the issuance as a dream come true. The President of KRPC Cooperative Society, Kaduna, Engr. Benjamin Ogwuche, said the certificates validated their property ownership and long-term investments in the estate.

Another resident, Daniel Okoebor, said receiving his C-of-O was a relief. He noted that the document secured his investment and provided legal proof of ownership, eliminating any future disputes.
