Ebonyi State Speaker Commends First Lady’s Efforts in Healthcare Provision

The  Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa, has lauded the dedication of Chief (Mrs.) Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, the First Lady of Ebonyi State, for her relentless commitment to enhancing healthcare services for mothers and children.

The commendation came during the commissioning of a Solar Motorized Borehole, funded by the staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Ebonyi State branch, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Eguefi Uduku Okpoitumo Ikwo, and the kick-off of the May/June 2024 Maternal/Newborn and Child Health Week Campaign, held at Onuebonyi Echara, the headquarters of Ikwo Local Government Area.

Odunwa expressed the gratitude of the people of Ikwo Local Government Council for the First Lady’s efforts.

 “She is a savior to so many people, and the good people of Ikwo Local Government council are very grateful.” 

He also assured his support for her initiatives.

The Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Council, Barr Sunday Basil Nwankwo, also expressed appreciation for the alignment of the programs with the objectives of Better Health for Rural Women, Children & Internally-Displaced Foundation (BERWO), and prayed for the First Lady’s continued success in her endeavors.

Additionally, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Moses Ekuma, stated the administration’s achievements in maternal and child health, emphasizing Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s dedication to improving healthcare services in Ebonyi State.

In her remarks, the First Lady, Chief (Mrs.) Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, underscored the importance of maternal, newborn, and child health, stating that they are crucial for the future prosperity and development of the state. 

She reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare services through initiatives like BERWO foundation.

The event also saw goodwill messages from critical stakeholders, including the Former First Lady of the State, Mrs. Josephine Elechi.
