Ebonyi Partners with Africa Faith Network to End Child Trafficking

The Africa Faith and Justice Network Nigeria has partnered with the Ebonyi State Ministry of Justice, National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Person (NAPTIP), and Dominicans for Justice and Peace to combat child trafficking and exploitation in Ebonyi State.

This collaboration aims to create a safer environment for children and promote sustainable development through a formal agreement outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Community Monitoring System (CMS).

The MoU outlines the terms of the partnership and roles of each party, while the CMS engages community leaders and stakeholders, including Town Union Presidents, Traditional Rulers, and Legal Practitioners, to monitor and prevent child trafficking.

According to the partnership details, the Africa Faith and Justice Network Nigeria’s efforts align with their mission to promote social justice, peace building, and human rights.

Hon. Nwanchor Paulinus, SA on Community Engagement to the Governor, welcomed the partnership, emphasizing its potential to significantly impact preventing child trafficking and exploitation in Ebonyi State.

“Am delighted today to receive delegates from Africa Faith and Justice Network Nigeria. Non governmental organizations in collaboration with the Ebonyi State Ministry of Justice, the National Agency for prohibition of Trafficking in Person (NAPTIP), Ebonyi State, and Dominicans for Justice and Peace”

“Our discussion centered on the prevailing increase on child trafficking, Girl Child Right Abuse or Child exploitation” he added.

The Africa Faith and Justice Network Nigeria is part of a larger organization that advocates for US relations with Africa that foster justice and peace.

Founded in 1983, the organization works closely with Catholic missionary congregations and Africa-focused coalitions to promote social justice and human rights.

Their initiatives, such as the Community Monitoring System (CMS) and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Ending Child Early and Forced Marriage and Domestic Servitude, demonstrate their commitment to addressing issues like child trafficking.
