2 min read

Ms. Jane Ejiaka, Head of ICT at NYSC Lagos, delivered an ICT lecture to prospective corps members currently undergoing an Orientation Course at the NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja.

Mrs Ejiaka emphasized the importance of ICT in the scheme, stating that corps members must be familiar with it as it relates to their day-to-day activities during the service year.

When discussing registering as a corps member, as well as obtaining clearance and other related matters, it is important to note that corps members should remain attentive to their dashboards. The dashboard is an easy-to-use platform for self-service, allowing corps members to address any issues on their own without requiring assistance from any NYSC officials.

According to her, the essence of ICT as incorporated into the operations of the scheme in 2011 is to transform the operations of the scheme from what it used to be modern-driven access technology.

During her lecture, she listed the functions of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) branch in the State Secretariat. She explained that the branch is responsible for processing and reporting corps members rejected from their Primary Place of Assignment (PPA), facilitating the remobilization of absconded corps members, retrieving information of corps members from the database, assisting with physical verification, among many other tasks.

Regarding the uses of the dashboard, she mentioned that it allows corps members to know the date for monthly biometrics, print their PPA letter, apply for relocation, and print the same, as well as obtain LGA clearance. She also highlighted other self-service options like Remobilization and Revalidation, correction of course of study, correction of class of degree, and more.
