Anti-Tinubu Coalition Applies to INEC to Register New Political Party, All Democratic Alliance (ADA)

After several weeks of consultations, the Nigeria National Coalition Group (NNCG) has formally submitted an application to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) seeking registration of a new political party named All Democratic Alliance (ADA).
The application letter, dated June 19, 2025, and acknowledged by INEC on June 20, was signed by the association’s Protem National Chairman, Chief Akin A. Rickets. In the letter, the group expressed its intent to transition from an association to a fully registered political party under the name All Democratic Alliance, with the acronym ADA and the slogan “Justice for All.”
The submission includes the party’s proposed logo, flag, constitution, manifesto, and other relevant documents as required by law. The materials detail ADA’s ideology, organizational structure, and commitment to democratic principles as outlined in the Nigerian Constitution and the Electoral Act.
“We respectfully write to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, requesting the registration of our association, the All Democratic Alliance, ADA, as a political party,” the letter stated. “This is sequel to the decision taken by the Nigerian National Coalition Group to sponsor our association for full registration.”
The move follows months of internal deliberations among members of the anti-Tinubu coalition, which includes prominent political figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and Dr. Umar Ardo of the League of Northern Democrats.
Initially, the group explored the possibility of aligning with existing political parties like the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP). However, concerns over internal disputes and litigation within those parties led the coalition to pursue an entirely new platform where all members would begin on equal footing.
A committee chaired by Amaechi was tasked with evaluating both options. The panel submitted its final recommendation last week, endorsing the registration of a fresh political party.
The coalition now awaits INEC’s response as it looks to position the All Democratic Alliance as a new force ahead of the 2027 general elections.
