77K ALLOWANCE: Corps Members Domate Wheelchair and Pavilion in Lagos 

In a bid to impact their communities and put smiles on the faces of the people in their communities, 2 Lagos corps members of Eti-Osa Local Government, Corps member Imoyera Mercy and Corps Member Tola Dumi-Leslie, have carried out two projects.

The projects carried out by the corps members were “Mobility Matters Project” which achieved donation of 2 wheelchairs, 5 crutches to some physically challenged individuals, a cash gifts of 10,000 each to two of the beneficiaries and 5,000 naira each to the others, was carried out by Mercy Imoyera(LA/24B/0416), while the second project carried out by Tola Dumi-Leslie(LA/24B/1558), was a construction of a Pavillion for use of Jamatul Islamayya Primary School, Igbo-Efon, and the corps members in the area. 

Speaking at the commissioning of the projects, State Coordinator NYSC Lagos, Mrs Christiana Salmwang said Community Development programme is one of the key programmes of the NYSC whereby corps members are encouraged to impact their communities. 

She said the corps members who carried out the projects identified a gap which they proffered solution. She added that the projects will provide succour to the beneficiaries. 

While commending the corps members, she said the community will remember them for their good deeds. She therefore urged others at the event to emulate their colleagues by leaving their communities better than they met it. 

Meanwhile while making their remarks, corps member Mercy Imoyera said as a member of SDGs, her project is aimed at goal number ten and as such her commitment to provide mobility to the physically challenged and to remedy their situation in the best way she can. 

Corps member Tola Dumi-Leslie on the other hand said the belief behind her project is that young people are essential drivers of nation-building. She said youths are not only leaders of tomorrow but the change-makers of today. She urged other corps members to take initiative and recognize that with diligence and dedication, a lasting positive impact can be achieved.
