Why I Rejected N30 Million From Kebbi Governor – Pastor Paul Enenche

Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has revealed why he turned down a N30 million donation from Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, during a recent crusade in the state.
Speaking during a Sunday service at the church’s headquarters in Abuja, Enenche said his decision was not personal but rooted in a long-standing principle of avoiding government funds or influence in his ministry.
“For some people, that may be a surprise because they don’t know who we are. But those who know us, that’s no surprise at all. That’s how we’ve lived, and that’s what we’ve stood for,” he said.
Enenche cited multiple instances to back up his stance, including declining honorariums and offers during national assignments. He recalled that in 2014, when he traveled to Jerusalem with then-President Goodluck Jonathan and other government officials under the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, he paid his own way and refused the honorarium offered on return.
“By the time we returned, the board chairman brought an offering and said this is their honorarium to me for going. I said no,” he recalled.
He noted that during Jonathan’s time as president, the former leader attended his church more than once, but no financial support or gifts were accepted. Referring to the church’s massive headquarters project, he stated clearly: “Government funds are not in this project, not one naira.”
Enenche shared similar experiences with former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom and a childhood friend-turned-minister who once offered to donate a vehicle. He turned both down.
According to the cleric, his refusal to accept money or gifts linked to public office stems from his commitment to remain bold and uncompromised in his prophetic calling.
“I don’t want to touch any dime of government money,” he said. “Accepting such gifts could silence my voice and weaken my stand when it comes to speaking truth to power.”
