Umahi Lauds Tinubu's Committment to Development

The Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for its bold and strategic efforts in tackling the long-standing road infrastructure challenges in Nigeria’s South-South region.

During a meeting with the South-South Caucus of the 10th Assembly, Federal House of Representatives, Engr. Umahi highlighted several key projects approved by President Tinubu aimed at enhancing connectivity and accelerating economic growth in the region.

These projects include the re-award of the two bypasses of the 2nd Niger Bridge, linking the Asaba-Benin and Enugu-Onitsha dual carriageways, as well as the commencement of Section III of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway in Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.

Engr. Umahi also emphasized the administration’s commitment to completing the 700-kilometer Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, one of the four Legacy Projects of the administration.

In addition, Engr. Umahi reiterated President Tinubu’s directive to terminate non-performing federal road contracts and encouraged legislators to hold contractors accountable in their respective constituencies.

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has re-awarded three sections of the East-West Road, with Engr. Umahi announcing that RCC Ltd will commence work on the first carriageway of 15 kilometers of the Eleme-Onne Road, including one bridge and one flyover.

Engr. Umahi expressed appreciation to the caucus for their support and commitment to the administration’s transformational agenda, aimed at ending decades of road failures and deficiencies in Nigeria.
