Tolanibaj Shares Candid Advice Ahead of Big Brother Naija Season 10

As anticipation builds for the 10th season of Big Brother Naija, former housemate Tolanibaj is offering up hard-earned advice to hopeful contestants looking to enter the famous reality show.
In a candid video shared via TikTok, the media personality and DJ—real name Tolani Shobajo—listed five crucial lessons from her time in the Big Brother house, urging future housemates to approach the experience with both authenticity and strategy.
1. Be Real — But Never Boring
Tolanibaj’s first tip was clear: authenticity matters, but dullness won’t get you far.
“Be yourself, but don’t be boring,” she stressed. “This is Big Brother Nigeria. Nigerians want entertainment. If you’re dry, it’ll work against you.”
2. Dress the Part — Every Single Day
She advised housemates to treat the house like a stage, not a living room.
“You might feel like you’re just lounging at home, but you’re on TV. Dress up every day. Do your makeup. Bring your own clothes in case you don’t like what they give you for Saturday parties. This is how fashion brands notice you.”
3. Housemates Are Not Automatically Friends
Tolanibaj warned that social dynamics in the house are often deceptive.
“Just because you live with people for weeks doesn’t mean they’re your friends. They’re colleagues in a game. If genuine friendships form after the show, great. But don’t be surprised if they don’t.”
4. Have a Post-Show Game Plan
She emphasized the need for contestants to think beyond the show, especially financially.
“The organisers will move on. Don’t rely solely on prize money, because even if you win, the money doesn’t drop at once. Plan ahead, create a strategy for life after Big Brother.”
5. The Real Work Starts After Eviction
According to her, the public spotlight only intensifies once the show ends.
“Whether you win or not, what really counts is what you do after the cameras stop rolling. That’s when your real journey begins.”
Tolanibaj made her BBNaija debut during the 2020 Lockdown season, where she had a brief romantic connection with fellow housemate Prince before being evicted on Day 43. Despite the early exit, she grew a loyal fanbase and carved out a career as a DJ, entrepreneur, and media personality.
She later returned for the All Stars edition in 2023, entering with a more calculated approach and a personal mission to honour her late father. During her second appearance, she built a rapport with Neo Akpofure and was evicted on Day 36, alongside Frodd.
Reflecting on her experience, Tolanibaj called her journey “adventurous” and stood by her decision to avoid emotional tactics.
“I deliberately avoided playing the pity card,” she said in a post-eviction interview. “I wanted to be remembered for being myself.”
With BBNaija Season 10 on the horizon, her advice offers a grounded perspective for those looking to enter—and exit—the house with purpose.
