President Bola Tinubu has bestowed the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) on retired Colonel Abubakar Dangiwa, a former military governor of Kaduna State.

The announcement was made on Thursday during a grand reception held as part of the president’s one-day working visit to Kaduna State.

Speaking at the event, Tinubu acknowledged an oversight in his recent Democracy Day address.

“Let me use this opportunity to correct an omission,” he said. “One of the individuals I failed to mention in my June 12 speech at the National Assembly is Colonel Dangiwa. I hereby honour him with the CFR.”

Colonel Dangiwa served as Kaduna State Governor between August 1985 and June 1988 under the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida.

Following his retirement from the Nigerian Army in 1993, he became a prominent social commentator and went on to establish the Movement for Unity and Progress, a political party.

President Tinubu’s visit to Kaduna also included the commissioning of several projects, including compressed natural gas (CNG) buses, a health centre, and other infrastructure developments across the state.
