Singer Ruger Shares Emotional Encounter with God

Nigerian music artist, Michael Adebayo popularly known as Ruger, has opened up about an emotional spiritual experience he had during a crossover service at the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) in Lagos.
The artist, known for hits like “Asiwaju,” made it a priority to attend the service on New Year’s Eve after missing the tradition for two years due to international commitments.
Ruger, the 24 years old music artist revealed that he instructed his manager to cancel all scheduled shows conflicting with the church service. He said he felt a deep connection to God during the event and shed tears for the first time in four years.
“I told my manager to cancel any shows for the night. I couldn’t miss the crossover service this time,” Ruger said. “I cried today, and I thank God for letting me experience His presence again.”
The singer also expressed gratitude to the church congregation and leaders for their support, describing the CCC as a nurturing and caring community that has shaped his life and career.
Ruger’s rise to fame began in 2021 when he signed a record deal with Jonzing World Record, affiliated with Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records. In February 2024, he announced his departure from Jonzing World and launched his own label, Blown Boy Entertainment.
The award-winning artist has been recognized for his talents, including the AFRIMA Best Newcomer Award in 2021 and the Best New Artist title at the 2023 Soundcity MVP Awards.
Reflecting on his journey, Ruger credited his church for playing a key role in his success. “This church has nurtured me from the beginning. If it wasn’t great, great people wouldn’t come from here,” he said.
