The Deputy Chief Whip of the 10th Nigerian Senate, Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, is teaming up with the Izhi Tehu Foundation to address the issue of unemployment among graduates.

Senator Nwebonyi said the joint mission is to provide essential guidance and mentorship to senior secondary school students to help them make informed decisions about their future careers.

Senator Nwebonyi, who represents Ebonyi North Senatorial District, revealed this ambitious initiative during a meeting with members of the Izhi Tehu Foundation at his residence in Isophumini, Mbeke Ishieke Autonomous Community, on Monday.

He expressed his concern over the growing number of graduates who struggle to find employment due to making the wrong career choices.

The Senator outlined plans for a comprehensive school-to-school sensitization tour, targeting SS1-SS3 students in both public and private schools.

“The focus of our partnership is to guide our youth towards making informed decisions about their university courses,” Senator Nwebonyi stated.

He emphasized the importance of aligning academic choices with economic opportunities, citing examples of high-demand professions in today’s job market.

To execute this vision effectively, Senator Nwebonyi pledged to establish a dedicated Sensitization Team comprising members of the Izhi Tehu Foundation and other education-focused organizations.

He said this team will conduct interactive sessions in public schools, educating students about the significance of professional courses and their career prospects.

Recognizing the Foundation’s past contributions to the community, Senator Nwebonyi commended their efforts in promoting the welfare and progress of the Izhi clan.

He also expressed readiness to support the Foundation’s skill acquisition schemes and other developmental projects aimed at advancing the Izhi community.

Earlier in his speech, the National President of the Foundation, Christopher Agbo Igwe, represented by the Secretary, Comrade Nwebonyi Louis Mgbada, eulogized Senator Nwebonyi for his brilliant performances in the Senate and all-round achievements within the short period, expressing their gladness and pride in having him as their Senator.
