Security Stops Portable from Performing at Taye Currency Concert in Ibadan

Nigerian singer Habib Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, was absent from the Taye Currency concert held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Thursday night due to security concerns.
The event’s management, Jarule Entertainment, explained that the decision to keep Portable away was made after assessing potential risks tied to his recent controversial remarks about the city.
Speaking to Tribune Online, Jarule Entertainment revealed that they consulted with the Oyo State Commissioner of Police and even signed an undertaking to ensure adequate security at the venue. Despite these measures, reports emerged that some individuals were actively searching for Portable in Ibadan, raising further concerns about his safety.
“We had to prioritize security,” Jarule Entertainment stated. “Although the venue had proper security arrangements, we decided it was best for Portable to stay away from the show entirely.”
The management also confirmed that Portable was the only artist on the lineup who could not perform, calling the situation unfortunate but necessary for safety. They expressed hope that the issue would soon be resolved.
The Taye Currency concert proceeded without further incident, and Jarule Entertainment emphasized that the safety of artists and attendees remains their top priority in organizing events.
