Dr. Paul Enenche, founder and senior pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has publicly turned down a ₦30 million donation from the Kebbi State Government during a gospel crusade held at the Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi.

The crusade, which took place on Wednesday, drew a massive crowd as part of Dunamis’ ongoing nationwide healing and deliverance campaigns. Midway into the programme, a state official climbed the stage to announce a cash donation from Governor Nasir Idris.

“Our Governor, the people’s governor, had graciously approved the donation of the sum of ₦30 million to this gathering. That is to the organising committee. And whenever His Excellency makes a donation, he never leaves without presenting it in cash,” the official declared.

Before he could continue, a voice from the stage interjected firmly with a “No, no”—later identified as Pastor Becky Enenche, wife of the senior pastor. Despite her interruption, the official insisted on proceeding, prompting her to say calmly, “Just hold on,” drawing cheers and applause from the crowd.

Shortly after, Dr. Enenche addressed the situation directly, making the church’s position clear:

“We believe government money should be used for government projects and government matters. Church money should be used for church purposes. They should not be mixed.”

He went on to emphasize Dunamis’ financial independence, revealing that the internationally renowned Glory Dome in Abuja—one of the world’s largest church auditoriums—was constructed entirely without government funding.

The moment has since gone viral online, with many Nigerians applauding the Enenches for maintaining integrity and transparency.

Dr. Enenche, a trained medical doctor turned fiery preacher, continues to command significant influence within Nigeria’s Christian community, especially through his large-scale evangelistic outreach programmes.
