Osimhen Open to £200k-a-Week Manchester United Deal Amid Napoli Exit Talks

Victor Osimhen is reportedly willing to accept a weekly wage just below £200,000 to join Manchester United, contrary to claims he is demanding £300,000 per week. This was revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who dismissed recent reports of the Nigerian striker seeking inflated wages.

Speaking to Givemesport, Romano said, “He just wants his current salary (around €12m net, or £10.2m per season) to be respected—nothing different. Same as one year ago.” The clarification comes as INEOS continue efforts to reduce Manchester United’s wage bill.

The reduced salary expectations could make a move more viable for United, especially considering players like Mason Mount already earn £250,000 per week at Old Trafford.

Osimhen, 26, is expected to leave Napoli this summer following a standout loan spell at Galatasaray, where he scored 37 goals and registered eight assists in 41 appearances. While Napoli reportedly favour a swap deal with Liverpool involving Darwin Núñez, the striker is said to prefer a move to Juventus, whose long-term vision appeals more to him.

The Nigeria international also turned down a lucrative £30 million-per-year offer from Saudi side Al-Hilal, opting to continue his career in Europe. Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand suggested this decision could be an indication that Osimhen is holding out for a move to Old Trafford.

“It looks like he’s turned down Al-Hilal… he must be waiting for Manchester United. I don’t know if Manchester United are going to come. That’s the problem,” Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel.

United are in the market for a natural centre-forward, with Rasmus Højlund yet to fully convince and Joshua Zirkzee performing better in a supporting role. However, the Red Devils face stiff competition from several clubs, including Liverpool, Juventus, and Galatasaray, who remain hopeful of securing Osimhen permanently.

Osimhen’s contract with Napoli expires next summer and includes a €75 million release clause reportedly applicable only to foreign clubs, meaning Italian suitors must negotiate directly with Napoli.

Since joining the Serie A side in 2020, Osimhen has recorded 76 goals and 18 assists in 133 appearances, helping Napoli win the Scudetto in the 2022/23 season.
