NYSC gives Free Medical Services to Lagos Community

The NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, Mrs Yetunde Baderinwa, has led Corps Medical personnel to Ishaga in Ifako-Ijaiye LGA for the quarterly Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD)
250 people with health conditions were treated and given food items as gifts at a program hosted by the Local Government Areas in Ikeja zone.
The State Coordinator spoke in Yoruba and thanked Ogundimu in Ishaga for allowing the Scheme to conduct its health program in the area.
She emphasized that it’s a regular practice of the Scheme to conduct health programs in remote areas of Lagos, where Corps Medical Personnel can attend to people.
“She also expressed her gratitude towards the Local Government Chairman for extending support towards the programme.”.
The Executive Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat, represented by the Supervisor for Works, commended the NYSC Scheme and urged residents to invite others to benefit.
On his part, Mr Mustapha Sulaiman, the Seriki of Iju Ogundimu, praised the well-organized programme, noting that it was free for all attendees and did not collect any fees.
Mr. Sule Akinsanya, also known as Baba Caterpillar, thanked the corps medical personnel for providing him with free medication. He is a blood pressure patient and has found the cost of medicine to be exorbitant.
He expressed his desire to be eligible for national service upon seeing the corps members.
Ewaoluwa Otetubi (LA/23B/4909), a Corps Nurse, finds volunteering for the HIRD programme fulfilling. Rural communities often struggle to access medical care, and the training she has received will benefit her community.
Emzor, Geneith, and Realx Pharmaceuticals provided drugs, while Matt Strength Academy gave food items to attendees of the programme. LASSACO Assurance Company also supported the event.
