I orchestrated Secondus’ Removal because of Fubara – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has narrated his involvement in the removal of Uche Secondus as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at a PDP event in Rivers State.
He faulted Secondus’ opposition to Siminalayi Fubara’s governorship dream as the reason.
Wike explained that Secondus had clamoured for his cousin, Tele Ikuru, to secure the PDP governorship ticket, a move Wike found unacceptable. This, he explained, made him push for Secondus’ removal from the party’s leadership.
Addressing ongoing tensions between himself and Governor Fubara, Wike accused Secondus and former Rivers Governor Celestine Omehia of being hypocrites. He alleged that the two only began supporting Fubara after benefiting personally from the relationship.
Wike pointed out contradictions in Secondus’ actions, referencing remarks made by Secondus in Bori. According to him, Secondus had previously opposed Fubara’s governorship aspirations but now portrays himself as an ally.
“I heard Secondus in Bori, acknowledging my efforts in awarding the Bori Internal Road project when I was governor. I paid 50% of the cost, anticipating that the succeeding administration would complete the work,” Wike stated.
He further criticized Secondus, saying, “Secondus claimed his enemies are the governor’s enemies. But who are the true enemies? Is it not the same Secondus who initially opposed Fubara’s governorship and wanted his cousin to secure the position?”
