DC Coordinator Disburses Bursary To 100 Students In Ebonyi

The Students of Ngbo Central Development Centre has praised the leadership ingenuity of Hon Mrs Blessing Adagba, Coordinator of Ngbo Central Development Centre, for approving the payment of ₦20,000 Bursary each to over a hundred Students in the Development Centre, amounting to 2million.w

It could be recalled that, earlier in October 2024, the DC approved a sum of 2M Naira for payment of Bursary to a hundred Students as a way of encouraging their academic pursuit amidst the economic reality in the country and further constituted a 5-man Committee to oversee the Bursary.

In his opening speech, the Chairman of the Bursary Committee who doubles as the Management Committee Member for Education/Youths, Hon Onwe Okemefuna, expressed gratitude to the Coordinator for demonstrating 

support to the students, adding that the bursary will restore the confidence of the Students in her government in the DC and significantly impact on them. 

He commended the students for their continued support and penchant for education despite the daunting challenges and emphasized the need for the Students to make judicious use of the money. The Chairman, however, extolled the 5 man Bursary Committee, which cut across the 4 autonomous communities in the DC, for their unwavering commitment and dedication in ensuring that the bursary was successful and a reality.

Flagging the Bursary at the DC Headquarters, Ndulo Okposhi on the 8th January 2025, Hon. Mrs Blessing Adagba, Coordinator of Ngbo Central Development Centre thanked the first family of the State, Their Excellencies, Rt Hon Bldr/Chief Mrs Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru FNIOB GGCEHF for the opportunity given to her to serve the people of Ngbo Central Development Centre as the Coordinator and assured her undiluted support to their policies and programs. 

He also applauded the Students for their support during and after the last election and expressed optimism that her Leadership in the DC will continue to address the needs of the people in the realisation of Gov Nwifuru’s agenda for rural development. She highlighted the importance of education and the need for the students to take their studies seriously and emphasized that the bursary was aimed at supporting their academic pursuits, cushioning their challenges as they commenced new academic sessions; assuring those who didn’t benefit from the bursary not to be discouraged as they would be another phase of the bursary in no distance time. She informed the beneficiaries that she made sure that the money was paid in cash despite the scarcity of notes to avoid stories of not getting alert.

Hon. Mrs Blessing Adagba appreciated the Committee led by the Management Committee Member for Education and Youths, Hon. Onwe Okemefuna, for their transparency and relentless effort in handling the exercise. 

Speaking on behalf of the Students, Comr. Christian Awoke, the President of Ngbo Central DC Undergraduates at the disbursement of the bursary, commended the Coordinator and her team for the exemplary leadership and gesture to the 100 Students in the DC and described the bursary as worthwhile and a clear demonstration of uncommon love and support for the students and upliftment of Education in the DC. 

He noted that since the history of the DC, this was the first of its kind and reiterated the unalloyed support of the students and cooperation with the Coordinator. Comr Awoke enjoined the beneficiaries to use the token to solve some of their challenges in School other than merriment.

According to the Secretary of the Committee who doubles as the Management Committee Member for Works and Information in the Ngbo Central Development Centre, Hon Nwede Chinonso, it’s on record that among the 64 Development Centre Coordinators, Mrs Blessing Adagba was the 4th to pay bursary to the Students and first female Coordinator to do so in Ebonyi State under the current dispensation.
