Bakare Visits Tinubu in Lagos, Calls for Urgent Reforms and Humble Leadership

Pastor Tunde Bakare, founder of the Citadel Global Community Church, has paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos, with discussions reportedly centered on pressing national issues and the state of the nation.

Bakare, who recently urged President Tinubu to implement swift and strategic measures to address Nigeria’s ongoing challenges, emphasized the need for a coordinated national recovery plan.

The former vice-presidential candidate, who ran alongside Muhammadu Buhari in the 2011 elections under the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), has been vocal about the direction of Tinubu’s administration.

In a state of the nation address delivered at his church in April, Bakare warned the President against adopting a domineering approach to leadership, urging him to show greater humility.

“Stop playing God,” he said, asserting that while he does not share Tinubu’s current approach, he does not wish for his administration to fail.

“The current administration is steering the nation off course,” Bakare warned. “It is time for this government to embrace humility.”

He clarified that his statements were not meant to condemn but to offer constructive guidance toward better governance.
