Baderinwa Bows Out of NYSC Lagos
In a grand send-forth party held at the Oluremi Tinubu Hall, Surulere, Lagos, the outgoing State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Lagos State, Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa, was celebrated for her remarkable achievements and lasting contributions to the Scheme in Lagos State.
The event which was well attended by members of staff,captains of industries,collaborating agencies,government officials, stakeholders, family, and friends celebrated her two-years tenure as she transitions to her new role as the Acting Director of General services at the NYSC Directorate Headquarters.
The evening was filled with heartfelt tributes and accolades, with attendees praising Baderinwa’s leadership, commitment and the lasting legacy she left behind after two years of outstanding service in Lagos.
She was described as a leader of grace, a woman with a magnetic personality who excelled in steering the ship of the NYSC Lagos Secretariat.
Baderinwa as a woman of noticeable social capital,recorded some outstanding achievements within her 2- year tenure in Lagos among which are the facilitation of the historic visit of Oniru to Lagos camp,which is the first visit of any oniru to the Scheme in Lagos,Donation of a 32 seater Hyundai bus to the Scheme by the Lagos State Government,facilitation of the visit of the wife of the Governor of Lagos State to the scheme in Lagos-Dr Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu.
A jewel of inestimable value,Baderinwa was also commended as the State Coordinator of one of the best states in reception of corps members for the 2023 Batch C orientation course,she successfully hosted the house of representatives members overseeing the ministry of youths,acquisition of 50 double bunks and 1000 mattresses for use at the orientation camp,acquisition of 2 brand new firman Generator (5KVa),purchase of 1000 plastic chairs in collaboration with partners and from NYSC Lagos purse,Refurbishment of the hall at the State Secretariat through partnership.
In his tribute, Chief Eddy Chinedu Megwa, former NYSC Lagos State Coordinator and retired ,Director Information and Public Relations at NYSC, NDHQ,unveiled a special magazine in Baderinwa’s honor titled “Unveiling the Compendium of a Trailblazer.” He extolled her leadership skills, stating, “You have made a landmark in Lagos, and we are immensely proud of you. Your hard work and dedication are a testament to your success.” He also acknowledged the NYSC Lagos staff, applauding their cooperation in making Baderinwa’s accomplishments possible. “The staff have been exceptional, and together, you have built something truly remarkable,” he said.
Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, the Chairman NYSC Governing Board who also doubles as the Hon. Commissioner for Youth and Social Development,equally unveiled the magazine, echoing Megwa’s sentiments as he listed Baderinwa’s many achievements. He lauded her for her dedication and commitment, which earned her the admiration of many within the NYSC and Lagos State Government.
Baderinwa, visibly moved by the outpouring of love and support, gave an emotional appreciation speech. She remarked that “This is a mind-blowing event, and I am overwhelmed by the love and effort everyone has put into this,” she said. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all who supported her during her time in Lagos and thanked the staff and sponsors for organizing such a memorable send-forth on short notice. “This is a true expression of love, and words cannot adequately capture my gratitude,” she added.She also thanked the ministry and her colleagues, reaffirming her belief in the power of teamwork and collaboration. Baderinwa however urged the staff to extend the same level of support to her successor.
