Appeal Court Upholds Death Sentence for Hotelier in Student Murder Case

A court in Akure, Nigeria has upheld the death sentence of Dr. Ramon Adedoyin, a popular hotel owner in Ile-Ife, for the murder of Timothy Adegoke, a former master’s student at Obafemi Awolowo University.
Adegoke was found dead in November 2021 at Adedoyin’s Hilton Honours Hotel in Ile-Ife. Adedoyin was convicted of the murder in 2023 and sentenced to death by a high court in Osun State.
The Court of Appeal upheld the conviction and sentence on Thursday, January 23, 2025. The court also quashed an order that required Adedoyin to forfeit his hotel and provide education scholarships to Adegoke’s children.
