Amaechi Says He Told Tinubu He Would Never Work With Him, Cites Lack Of Capacity

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has revealed that he once told President Bola Tinubu directly that he would never support or work for him, citing Tinubu’s alleged lack of capacity to govern Nigeria.
Amaechi made the disclosure on Saturday during an event to mark his 60th birthday in Abuja.
“I told Tinubu in Yola, I will not support you; I will not work for you. I did not work for him; I did not vote for him. It was the issue of capacity,” he said.
The former minister criticized voters who make decisions based on ethnic and religious sentiments, saying: “Some of us who are here are also those who vote on an ethnic or religious basis. Innocent, uneducated people are manipulated to vote based on ethnicity and religion — that’s why we are here.”
He also took aim at the political elite: “When we leave here, we go to plot to go and grab power; no Nigerian leader cares for you.”
Amaechi further slammed the current administration’s policies, particularly the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket and the handling of the fuel subsidy removal.
“You that voted Muslim/Muslim ticket, let the Muslim market come out now,” he said. “For us in opposition, if you want us to remove this man, we can remove this man from power. We want to submit to the opposition if the opposition will take us out of this problem.”
He accused the government of weaponizing poverty, saying: “They are weaponising poverty by stealing the money they should have used to build hospitals and schools. The benefit of the fuel subsidy removal is in their pockets.”
