Ogbu Promises Student-Centered Leadership

As the Students’ Union Government (SUG) elections draw near at Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), Ogbu Daniel Chigozie, the current Director of Welfare and a cleared presidential contestant, has outlined a comprehensive vision for a student-centered leadership.
“My drive to contest for this office is fueled by my burning desire to ensure that AE-FUNAI students have access to resources and support that we need to strive academically, socially, personally, and otherwise,” Ogbu stated.
Ogbu pledged to tackle pressing issues related to infrastructure development. “Curbing extortion and waste bin project, which also comes with campus sanitation, are key priorities. I have experience in addressing these issues and know the best ways to settle them.”
Ogbu also emphasized his commitment to improving healthcare services. “We will enhance healthcare services on campus, advocate for increasing healthcare professionals and facilities, and provide access to mental health resources, counseling, and regular health education.”
Academic excellence is another area of focus. “We will provide seats, fans, and bulbs in all lecture halls, advocate for better teaching methods, and increase access to academic support services such as tutorials and mentorship programs.”
On economic empowerment, Ogbu proposed establishing a general market to regulate marketing activities and reduce prices. “This will make marketers render their services to students at a reduced price.”
Safety and security are also top priorities. “I will partner with security agencies to establish a 24/7 hotline for the protection and safety of our students.”
Ogbu’s leadership style emphasizes transparency and accountability. “Regular town hall meetings and carrying all my council members along, and in-time updates to the students’ community on union functions will be my leadership style.”
“We will provide recreational facilities, promote cultural diversity and inclusivity, and support students’ clubs and organizations,” Ogbu added.
The SUG elections are expected to hold soon, with Ogbu facing off against other contestants for the top seat.
