Thomas Frank Appointed as New Tottenham Head Coach on Deal Until 2028

Thomas Frank has been officially appointed as Tottenham Hotspur’s new head coach, ending weeks of speculation about who would succeed Ange Postecoglou following a disappointing Premier League campaign.

The 50-year-old Danish manager joins Spurs after a highly successful spell at Brentford, where he guided the club to Premier League promotion and established them as a solid top-flight side. Tottenham reportedly activated his £9–10 million release clause, securing his services on a contract that runs until 2028.

Frank isn’t arriving alone—he will be joined by key members of his Brentford backroom team, including Justin Cochrane (assistant coach), Chris Haslam (head of athletic performance), Joe Newton (tactical analyst), and other close collaborators such as Claus Nørgaard and Tom Perryman. This signals a near-complete overhaul of Tottenham’s coaching setup, with only a few members of the previous staff—like Matt Wells and Rob Burch—set to remain.

Tottenham’s decision to appoint Frank is based on his strong track record in developing young talent, working within financial limits, employing flexible and pragmatic tactics, and building team cohesion and discipline. Director of Football Johan Lange, who has a long-standing professional relationship with Frank, reportedly played a major role in securing the deal.

Spurs are aiming to bounce back after a frustrating 2024/25 season that saw them finish 17th in the Premier League—just above the relegation zone—despite winning the Europa League. Frank’s arrival marks the beginning of a rebuild, and he faces immediate challenges, including resolving the future of team captain Heung-min Son, whose contract is nearing its end.

Former Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen praised the appointment, calling Frank “a brilliant leader with a clear footballing philosophy.” Legendary former manager Glenn Hoddle also commended the club for “choosing a steady, smart tactician who knows how to get the best out of limited resources.”

Thomas Frank’s appointment marks a fresh chapter for Tottenham. With a trusted coaching staff by his side and a reputation for smart, efficient management, he now takes on the task of restoring stability and success in North London.
