Wike’s Aide Denies Report on Alleged 2,082 Hectares Land Allocation to Minister’s Son

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has refuted claims that the minister allocated 2,082 hectares of land in Maitama and Asokoro to one of his sons.

In a statement released on Thursday, Olayinka described the report as a “tissue of lies” and a “malicious falsehood” fabricated by those determined to tarnish Wike’s reputation.

“Not even a single plot of land has been allocated to any of the Minister’s children,” he said. “In today’s Asokoro and Maitama, where can the FCT Minister find 2,082 hectares to allocate to anyone?”

He challenged the publisher of the report to present any evidence of land allocations in the name of the minister’s children, accusing them of deliberately spreading unfounded and bitter allegations.

Olayinka clarified that a Right of Occupancy was indeed issued to JOAQ Farms and Estate Limited—a duly registered Nigerian company—for agricultural purposes in Bwari Area Council, not in Maitama or Asokoro.

“What is wrong with a farmer being allocated land strictly for agriculture?” he asked.

He emphasized that while it is lawful for any Nigerian, including the minister and his family, to own land provided due process is followed, no land had been allocated to Wike’s children.

“The publication alleging that the FCT Minister allocated 2,082 hectares to his son is false and should be completely disregarded,” Olayinka concluded.
