Trump Threatens To Send Elon Musk Back To South Africa Amid Renewed Feud

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has reignited his feud with billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk, threatening to send him “back to South Africa” and suggesting the revival of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to investigate him.

Trump’s outburst came on Monday night via his Truth Social platform, in response to a post by Musk on X (formerly Twitter). In the post, Musk criticized lawmakers who campaigned on cutting spending but supported Trump’s latest spending bill, saying they “should hang their heads in shame.” Musk also warned that if the bill passed, he would launch his own political group — the America Party — the very next day.

Trump hit back strongly, accusing Musk of hypocrisy and heavily benefiting from government aid. “Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far,” he wrote. “Without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa.”

He added, “No more rocket launches, satellites, or electric car production, and our country would save a FORTUNE. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!”

Musk had previously led DOGE — a now-dissolved Trump-era agency created to combat government waste — before parting ways with the administration. Their relationship has grown increasingly hostile since.
